Kings Court Lounge new management

I stopped in at the Kings Court Lounge, 189 Delaware Avenue last weekend after 12 midnight and found Kings Court under new management. President William Badawy, 27, keeps the place hip-hoping with a variety of tunes mostly from the Caribbean and Latin America.
While a D.J. spins the latest Salsa music, the fashionably dressed young Latinas in stilettos heels  move around the dance floor.
It's challenging to find good food late at night in Buffalo, but curious I asked the bartender if the kitchen still opened. Shortly, Mr. Badawy appears sometime later with a dish of grilled chicken breasts, salad, potatoes, pasta & sauce with a white cloth napkin. I asked for several forks to share with friends and Badawy was very  accommodating.  The food was great, chicken tasty and I loved the small baked potatoes.  I must say that at 2 am, it was great to eat so good late in the wee hours of the morning.
So stop in and check out the new Kings Court Lounge. (716 856-9262 or 536-8365.

Guttuso's North End Trattoria: opening soon on Hertel Avenue

Guttuso's North End Trattoria Italian Restaurant and Bar, opening soon at 1458 Hertel Avenue, specializing in gourmet "wood fired" pizza? Hmmm, what is it?  try the "Grecian," fresh tomato sauce, feta cheese, spinach, roma tomatoes, kalamata olives, red onions, sundried tomatoes with touch of ouzo liquor; or the Vegetable with fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, sweet bell peppers, artichokes, red onion, mushrooms, roasted eggplant and zucchini."
James Guttuso (Jim) left Buffalo 32 years ago, following his family to South Florida after his parents grew tired of the snow and frigid Buffalo temperatures.
But the 16-year-old never forgot his hometown, returning to open a restaurant on Hertel Avenue after 20 years of managing upscale fine eateries and his own Ristorante Lunas and Peter's Stone Crab Restaurant in Florida dedicated  to his younger brother Peter who died tragically in an accident in 1995.
So food critics and the prestigious Gourmet Magazine highly rated Lunas, becoming a "hot spot" on Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach, Florida. While equally as successful was Peter's Stone Crab Restaurant, a seafood place. After 13 years, James Guttuso sold both  restaurants when presented with enticing offers.
And  in 2003 allured by an opportunity to work in the Big Apple, he moved his family to Connecticut. Now James Guttuso is back in Buffalo encouraged by family and friends. He linked up with his friend Chef Chris Luccari at Ristorante Lunas in South Florida through Facebook.
So,  the two are back together again at Guttuso's to dazzle us with their culinary skills, preparing the best Italian cuisine in town from their famous "wood fired" oven pizzas, antipasti, insalata, fresh pasta and a "Grilled 12 oz Ribeye Pizzaiola," the menu says-"topped with sauteed red and green peppers, mushrooms, garlic, crushed red pepper, wine and light tomato sauce with fingerling potatoes,"  too die for?  a review coming soon...
